Family Literacy Day
Join Stratford Early Years' Centre and P.L.O.W. for a mock campfire sing-a-long. Songs and stories will be shared along with a delicious s'mores treat! All families and friends in Perth County welcome. No registration requried.

"Fable"ulous Fall Frenzie" - Kinkora Kick Off Event
Do you live in the Kinkora area? Are you looking for a night of family fun?? If so, please join the West Perth Early Years Centre and P.L.O.W. (Public Library On Wheels) for a "Fable"ulous Fall Frenzie! Enjoy FREE face painting, story telling, fun activities, characters in costume and snacks!

Families with preschoolers and toddlers are invited to come and borrow materials and then listen to a PLOW story time.

Family Literacy Day 2008
Stratford Festival Marketplace, Public Library on Wheels, Perth- Middlesex Early Years Centers, and the Avon Maitland District School Board partnered together to bring an Enchanted Adventure to the Stratford Festival Marketplace, January 26 2008, 10am - 3pm.

Children were able to meet their favorite Nursery Rhyme and Fairy Tale characters. Kids were given "autograph books"  collect autographs from their favorite characters. Performances by local musicians, story teller and performers. The Early Years Center provided a craft area and stories were read by John Wilkinson, Dan Mathieson and others at the mall's centre court. Lots of draws for books were held throughout the day. There were over 3000 people at the mall during the Enchanted Adventure! What a fantastic turn out and an amazing event!

2007

2007 Family Literacy Day - Amazing Phrase
"Calling all families!! Do you ever watch the Amazing Race? Have you ever wanted to be a part of it? Now you can! You are invited to participate in the Amazing Phrase, a literacy spin-off of the popular TV show – right in your own town! Families with children of all ages are welcome to participate in this fun-filled event to celebrate Family Literacy Day. Your family can participate on whatever day works best for you between Monday January 22, 2007 and noon on Family Literacy Day Saturday January 27.

Your list of Amazing Phrase locations will be available at your local public library (Stratford, Mitchell or Milverton). After you pick up the list and map, you will visit each checkpoint, and the participating businesses will make sure you complete your challenge before giving you your letter clue.  When you have collected all your letters, unscramble them to discover the phrase and return your form to the library by noon January 27. Prizes will be awarded to winners drawn from the completed correct entries at your public library on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 2 p.m. This Family Literacy Day event is brought to you by Public Library On Wheels and the Perth-Middlesex Early Years Centre. For more information please call your public library or the Perth Middlesex Early Years Centre."

Stratford Garden Festival - Family Fun Night

Storyteller Trish will be at the Sebringville Garden Centre's booth featuring stories Jack In The Beanstalk, and the Frog Prince.  It will be a GIANT storytime so hop right in!

Gift Of Words Reading Circle
Sprucedale Public School, Shakespeare
A fun storytime and book / materials lending on Tuesday mornings.  This program runs February 13 - April 24, 2007, from 9:30am - 10:30am (excluding March 13). This program is open to the public. Thank you to ABC/Starbuck's Gift of Words for the funding of this program.
Special Guest - Tuesday April 17 at 9:30 a.m. popular storyteller Mary Eileen McClear will enchant the participants with her exceptional storytelling talents in the gymnasium of Sprucedale Public School. Join Ms. McClear as she engages the audience with a variety of exciting stories. This program is free and families and caregivers with preschoolers are encouraged to attend.

Poole ESL Class

PLOW will be going to the Poole ESL class begining March 1, 2007 10:30-11:30.  This program is open to the students and families of the English as a Second Language class at the Poole Mennonite church.  PLOW will be there March 1, 29, April 12, 26 and May 10.

This is a chance for moms to do errands while the kids are entertained by ECE qualified staff and assistants.  PLOW will be there Saturday April 15 2006 from 10:30am - 11am, but the Mom's Breakaway Morning runs from 9am - 11am.  Registration through the Main Street United Church in Mitchell.

Shakespeare
Sprucedale Public School

A fun storytime and book / materials lending on Tuesday mornings.  This program runs February 7 2006 - April 18 2006 from 9:30am - 10:15am (10 weeks - missing one week for March Break). This program is open to the public.

Family Time
Knox Presbyterian Church in Mitchell

On April 21 2006, come for storytime while the adults have coffee time/program.   Storytime from 10am - 10:30am, and pick books to borrow books until 11am.

Poole
Poole Mennonite Church

This is an ESL program for children run by the Perth District Health Unit.  PLOW attends and provides storytime and book lending. Upcoming dates include March 30, April 13, 27, and May 11, 2006 from 10am - 12pm

Franklin Drive Program, Stratford
This is an opportunity for Franklin Drive residents to borrow library materials.
Dates include March 23, April 6, 20, and May 4, 18 2006

The Early Years Playgroup

Come to this neighbourhood park to enjoy fun stories and songs at the PLOW story time.  Then you can borrow materials from our book display loaded with books for children of all ages.  We have videos, DVDs and parenting materials too!

The PLOW van will bring a great collection of children's books, videos and DVDs to borrow, as well as parenting materials.  Story time will be held from 9:30-10:00 and will include fun stories, songs, and finger plays.

Franklin Drive:  Summer Day Camp
PLOW will be returning this summer to the Franklin Drive day camp Tuesdays from 1:00-2:00 to deliver a storytime and provide an opportunity for Franklin Drive residents to borrow library materials.   Program begins Tuesday July 11, 2006.

- come to McDonalds on Ontario Street for Family Fun Night! Bring in your Fun Pass (available West Perth Public Library, Perth East Public Library, St. Marys Public Library and Stratford Public Library) and present it when you purchase your dinner. 15% of all proceeds will be going to support PLOW (Public Library on Wheels). Watch for you local library staff who will be working behind the counter!PLOW storytimes to run at 5pm and 6:30pm. This is a FREE drop-in program.

Imagination Station - Brodhagen Community Centre [map]

Enter the exciting world of imagination through stories, songs, crafts, costumes, puppets and props. Together, you and your child wil explore the wonderful world of literacy. PLOW provides various DVDS, videos, books for children of all ages, parenting materials available to lend for a 3 week period. Library cards can be issued on site.
